Man Found Dead in House South of Elk Grove

A 60-year-old man was found dead over the weekend in what authorities are calling a homicide.

A 60-year-old man was found dead Saturday evening in his home south of Elk Grove, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department announced.

Friends arriving at the home in a rural area near Dillard Road and Highway 99 found the man's body around 9 p.m. Saturday, the department said in a press release.

"Deputies entered the residence and located the victim, who had significant trauma to his upper body," the sheriff's department said. "Paramedics responding to the scene declared the victim deceased."

The Sacramento County Coronor's Office identified the man as Kelly Dale McClurg, and ruled his death a homicide.

The man and woman who found McClurg were detained for questioning, but are not considered suspects in the case, according to the sheriff's department.

"Detectives have not established a motive for this incident, and anyone having information pertinent to the investigation is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at (916) 874-5115, Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP or send a text message tip to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter SACTIP followed by the tip information," the department said. "Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000."
