The Wake-Up Call: Welcome Back, "A" for Effort, Dan's the Man
Here's what's happening in and around Elk Grove today.
What's going on in our neck of the woods today? Glad you asked. Like a wild pig on a truffle trail, we've sniffed out something for students, parents and politicos alike, so check them out. In the words of hockey great Wayne Gretzky, "You miss 100 percent of the shots you don't take."
Rise and shine. Parents and A Track first- through sixth-grade students at Foulks Ranch Elementary School are invited to Back-to-School Morning for a teacher meet-and-greet beginning at 7:30 a.m. Click here for details.
On campus. Harriet Eddy Middle School students and parents, say hello to Principal Del Bonta and find out what's in store for the 2011-12 school year at the 5:30 p.m. Parent Orientation and BBQ. You'll feast on burgers and hot dogs in the quad, followed by workshops on School Loop registration, athletics and school expectations.
Political presentation. Congressman Dan Lungren will lead a Town Hall Meeting at 7:00 p.m. at the Wackford Community and Aquatic Complex, complete with introductory remarks, a congressional update and audience question-and-answer period.

How many jobs has your economy wrecking strategy created Dan?

Are you blaming Lungren for the economy now? If you want to create more job, jobs that are not government, tax payer supported jobs then we have to make it easier for businesses to operate. Too many regulations and high fees are one reason we are in this spot. It is too expensive to operate a business in California

This would be an interesting debate to have at tonight's town hall meeting.

What would have been good is if there were young people there interested in their community and nation to ask the following questions:
Given that the Piddle Down Theory of Economics has been proven wrong over and over again why do you keep doubling down on that loosing bet? Can’t you learn from and admit your mistakes?
Are you aware that income is only rising for the wealthy?
About 2% of your contributions come from small individual contributors like us. If we gave you more money would you represent us instead of the Greedy Special Interest?
The vast majority of your contributions come from layers, lobbyists, finance and real estate. Given the current economic and real estate situation how would you say that is working out for us?
You voted for the Ryan bill, which calls for gutting Social Security and Medicare. Why do you never support the American people?
Looking at your voting record it is clear that you always seize the opportunity to vote in favor of the wealthy and big business. Would eliminating private financing of campaigns eliminate this shameful misdeed?
As a member of The Heritage Foundation (And they pay for some of your trips don’t they?) do you agree with The Heritage Foundation position paper that those classified as poor in this country are not really poor because they have two TV’s, a microwave, and AC?
Are you aware that GOP now stands for Greedy, Obstructionist, Plutocrats?
Thank you Congressman Lungren.

Typical uniformed class warrior liberal who thinks rich is what they make +$1. Cracks me up. Yeah let's create more government jobs and make government bigger. That will help. LOL

Whisky Tango Foxtrot - Boy it doesn't take long for the right wing extremist to whip out their Limbaugh rhetoric of hate. This dialogue is not the place for that. This is a conversation about the dire straits that thoughtless Limbaugh language has put this country in. The fact is that the country is bleeding to death and the leeches want to do more blood letting when what is needed is more transfusions. I suggest studying up on what the economists and corporate leaders are saying. There just might be some solutions there.

Are we still terrorists and racists, or were you just being courteous?

EGLF -- I'm assuming then that you won't be voting for Perry since his Texas miracle is primarily based on a growth in government jobs.

less than 50% of population pays taxes Mike, that's your liberal base. It's in the best interests of democrats to keep those people down so that they can keep feeding them the same junk over and over, "those darn greedy republicans...." What are democrats doing to help businesses stay alive? Do you think more regulation is the answer? That's not working California, that's why businesses leave here for other states.

Regulation ensures the interest of the community are protected, not the interests of private corporations, whose only interest is making money, not taking care of citizens. Businesses are outsourcing to other countries to lower costs, not other states. Republicans want to take care of businesses "for jobs" but unless our economy improves and demand increases, they're not going to hire. They aren't hiring people because they're getting a tax break- they hire if it'll help them make more money. Businesses aren't here to help the community. They're here to make money!

How dare those businesses want to make money! The nerve of those small business owners to work 10 hour days 6-7 days a week and pay taxes and employ people and contribute to the community. Don't confuse small businesses with large corporations. But then most liberals have never owned a business.
