Spanish Exchange Students Arrive in Elk Grove: Yesterday was Soooo Exciting!

First of all, I can't believe I went to bed at 9 p.m. I'm usually never in bed before midnight! But the excitement of the culmination of all of our work, and the reduction in stress levels + the heat and long bus trip had me "plumb tuckered out" as they say in the old movies :-)

My partner in crime Rebecca, her daughter, and I set out on the long bus trip to SFO - she at 9:30 from Roseville and me from Elk Grove at 10:30 and by about 1 p.m. we were "laying in wait" at the SFO International Terminal. Well the wait lasted just over 2 hours but finally.....31 yellow T-shirted, exhausted but adorable Spaniards came down the runway.

Rebecca and I took pictures while her daughter held our yellow greeting sign and we all said hello. After wandering around the airport for a little bit we made it to our bus and began the long but beautiful bus ride across the Hayward / San Mateo Bridge through the Altamont Pass and windmills to Elk Grove.

Once the bus parked it was like a scene from a movie - all the mini vans and cars and 4x4's pulled up like a raid, excited to be the first to hold their signs high and welcome their students. It was really fun. The exhausted students suddenly lit up like Christmas trees and could again see the fun they were about to have.

OK well I'm back but it's time to start preparations for this afternoon's welcome party at the Wackford!
