2013 Elk Grove Fourth of July Fireworks Show: Everything You Need to Know

Elk Grove's annual Salute to the Red, White and Blue fireworks show will be held Thursday, July 4.

Elk Grove, CA – The City of Elk Grove will host the 17th annual Salute to the Red, White & Blue fireworks show at Elk Grove Regional Park on Thursday, July 4.  This is Elk Grove’s premier patriotic celebration marking the nation’s independence and the City’s 13th year of incorporation.

 

Festivities begin at 5:45 p.m. with an opening ceremony and the national anthem, followed by live music from the Latin and R&B band, Innersoul. Fireworks will light up Elk Grove’s southeast skies beginning at 9:30 p.m. from the Kloss Softball Complex.

Guests are encouraged to bring chairs, a blanket and a picnic dinner or purchase food from the vendors on site.  Admission is free, and parking is $10 per vehicle.  Gates open at 7 a.m.  Drivers should enter Elk Grove Regional Park from entrances on Elk Grove-Florin Road.

Alcohol, personal fireworks and pets (excluding service animals) are strictly prohibited.  The Park’s dog park and disc golf course amenities will be closed for this event.

 

Special transit service to the park will be provided by e-tran on July 4 beginning at 3 pm.  The City will offer free service to the park every 15 minutes on the Red and Blue line. These routes will run continuously until 9 p.m. and will resume service at the conclusion of the event.  Service will conclude by 11:30 p.m.  For ADA certified passengers, both routes may deviate or travel off route up to ¾ mile to pick up and drop off passengers.  Reservations must be made at least 1 day prior to travel by calling 916-683-8726. Event transit routes and information will be available fromwww.elkgrovecity.org/rwb and www.e-tran.org.  Transit staff will be issuing Riders’ Alerts throughout the 4th of Julyholiday with transit updates.

 

Vehicle traffic will not be allowed to enter Elk Grove Regional Park after 9 p.m. due to the 9:30 p.m. fireworks show. 

 

The following street closure will be in effect from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on July 4:

  • East Stockton Blvd. at Valley Oak Lane will be closed to all traffic except for emergency vehicles or transit buses. 

The following street closures will be in effect from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on July 4:

  • Elk Grove Blvd. exit from northbound Highway 99 will be closed.
  • Southbound East Stockton Blvd. from Elk Grove Blvd. will be closed to all traffic except for emergency vehicles or transit buses. 

The following detours will be in effect from 8:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. on July 4:

  • Residential traffic to the east of Elk Grove Regional Park will only be able to exit the area by making a right turn onto northbound Elk Grove-Florin Rd.
  • All southbound traffic on Elk Grove-Florin Rd. will be diverted westbound onto Valley Oak Lane.
  • Traffic leaving from the eastside of Elk Grove Regional Park will only be able to turn right onto southbound Elk Grove-Florin Rd. Traffic will then be directed to southbound E. Stockton Blvd. then to either Highway 99 or Grant Line Rd.
  • Traffic leaving from the westside of Elk Grove Regional Park will only be able to turn right onto northbound E. Stockton Blvd. which will lead to Elk Grove Blvd.
  • Traffic leaving on Valley Oak Lane (east or west) will be allowed access to northbound Elk Grove-Florin Road, northbound E. Stockton Blvd. or northbound Emerald Oak. 
  • Traffic exiting the Hampton Oaks area will be directed onto southbound E. Stockton Blvd.

The 17th annual Salute to the Red, White & Blue is presented by the City of Elk Grove and the Cosumnes Community Services District with generous support from the Elk Grove Auto Mall, MV Transportation, Willdan Engineering, Kaiser Permanente, Sutter Medical Foundation, Interwest Consulting Group, Walmart, Nina’s Flowers, Republic Services, Pappas Investments and the Elk Grove Citizen.
