Feb. 18-19: You Make Me Feel Like Dancing, Drinking and Shredding!

Here's what's happening in and around Elk Grove this weekend.

Things are happening up in the city, and we've noticed.  After a relatively quiet January, February's teeming with options, such as Black History Month events, crab feeds and celebrations galore.  Here are our weekend picks to get you moving, grooving and dining.

1. Father & Daughter Dinner Dance:  Under the Sea

Where/When: Laguna Town Hall, Friday 6 p.m.

Why Go: It's a chance for some quality father/daughter time together, before she hits the independent teenage stage.

Pricing: $30 per person.

2. E-Waste & Document Shredding Event

Where/When: Pleasant Grove High School, Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: Your donations help the Pleasant Grove High School Band Boosters with field trip expenses and musical equipment purchases, AND keep the environment clean—what's not to like about that?

Pricing: $5 per box of documents to shred.

3. African Drum & Dance with Indigo Blue

Where/When: Franklin Community Library, Saturday 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: Increase your African cultural awareness and learn about indigo dye's importance at this special presentation.

Pricing: Free.

4. Elk Grove Masonic Lodge Annual Crab Feed

Where/When: Elk Grove Masonic Lodge #173, Saturday 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Why Go: It's surf minus the turf, and that's a good thing.  Crab, shrimp, pasta, salad and more await you at this fun-filled feast.  Call David Simpson to reserve your spot at (916) 686-5261.

5. Saturday Night Drink Special

Where/When: Todo un Poco Mexican Bar & Italian Bistro, Saturday, all evening.

Why Go: Channel your inner Carrie Bradshaw and get your fill of $5 Cosmos.  Invite some gal pals and cab it home—you know you miss those Sex & the City days!
