Hot Weather and Hot Chili at Old Town Elk Grove Chili Festival

Sweltering temperatures didn't deter Elk Grove residents from sampling more than a dozen different chilis Saturday at the Old Town Elk Grove Chili Festival.

Spicy chili was still in vogue, despite heat that topped 100 degrees for much of the day. The weather led many attendees to seek shelter in an air-conditioned tent, complete with a flatscreen television tuned to ESPN.

According to festival organizers, the winners of the chili cook-off were:

Best Decorations:
Tie between Big Bad Wolves and 3 Little Piggies

Peoples Choice:
First place: 3 Little Piggies (chili No. 1)
Second place: Chili Queen (chili No. 18)
Third place: Blazin Peppers (chili No. 3)
