Program Offered to Prevent Holiday Depression in Elk Grove Seniors
Emeritus at Laguna Creek is offering free visits from health experts.
An Elk Grove assisted living home is offering free professional visits to check on the physical and mental health of area seniors this holiday season.
“About 20 percent of seniors suffer from full-blown depression or a less
severe form of the condition and the holiday season can be particularly difficult,” a press release quoted Brenda Chappell, the Executive Director of Emeritus at Laguna Creek, as saying.
Through the free program, family members may call Emeritus at Laguna Creek to request a visit. A staff member will then check on the senior, and help connect the family with community resources if needed. Previously, the program operated on referrals from health professionals.
