You may have noticed the about city employees' job duties and salaries. We think it's a great example of the machinery of democracy in action: A reader had a question about the running of our city, we got the answer from city officials, and we shared it with you, the people.

Our site exists to serve you. So if you've got a question about Elk Grove, let us know, and we'll do our best to dig up the answer. From time to time, we'll also ask you for guidance with a story we're working on (see below). The best journalism is a team effort.

Had an Experience with the County Coroner's Office Recently? Sacramento-area Patch sites are working on a story about how county budget cuts may affect our communities, and we're starting here. Safety Town Registration Continues. Parents can sign their five-year-old children up for a fun two-week safety course presented by the Elk Grove Unified School District and the Elk Grove Police Department. The course begins July 18 at Ellen Feickert Elementary, costs $25, and uses songs and stories to explain fire prevention, bicycle safety and more. Register here.
