Tonight your city councilmembers, fresh from a lobbying trip to Washington, D.C.,  are set to consider extending the permit for a shopping center that includes a and granting an exemption to California environmental laws for a single homeowner. They'll also hear a presentation on how the city will spend its money next year, and an update on an that failed to report on how it spent its funds. Sound interesting? We think so.

City Council Meeting, 6:00 p.m., 8400 Laguna Palms Way. The agenda is attached. Anyone wishing to speak can fill out a card onsite and hand it to the city clerk in exchange for three minutes at the mike. The meeting will also be streamed live on the city website.

Virtual Academy Open House, 8:30 a.m., Computer Lab. More school districts around the country are turning to online education, and Elk Grove Unified is one of them. What could this mean for your child? Find out this morning. The district will also hold two more open houses in the same location, June 16 at noon and July 22 at 3:00 p.m..

Sacramento County Fair Discounts. Today and tomorrow are the last days to buy a discounted wristband that entitles you to unlimited rides. Pick them up at Walgreens stores for $15 adults, $12 children. See information about this and other deals on the fair's website. The fair runs Thursday through Monday at the Cal Expo.
