The Wake-Up Call: New School, In the Money

Here's what's happening in and around Elk Grove today.

Today Robert DeNiro will blow out 68 candles on his birthday cake and baby boomers will remember the conclusion of none other than 1969's Woodstock Music Festival (were you there?).  We'll let you relive your own memories while we share what's on the docket this August 17.

Back to school. is offering training tonight for parents who want to learn how to use the online system School Loop to stay in touch with the rest of the school community. The session starts at 6:00 p.m. in the school's computer lab.

Next in line.  Taking care of business just got a little easier for US Bank customers with the opening of a new branch at 9230 Elk Grove-Florin Road.  Come to the 4 p.m. celebration, where you'll chat with staff members over refreshments and giggle at the giant scissors used for the ribbon cutting.

Roll call.  The City of Elk Grove's is the site of tonight's 6:45 p.m. Disability Advisory Committee Meeting, during which you'll hear about next year's Above and Beyond Awards program.
