5.7-Magnitude Plumas County Earthquake Reaches Sacramento Area

The Sacramento area was shaken by a rare earthquake Thursday night.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported a 5.7-magnitude earthquake at 8:47 p.m. about 7 miles away from Greenville, in Plumas County near Susanville.

A 3.5-magnitude quake was reported in the same area 8 minutes later, and a number of smaller earthquakes after that.
