Alleged Burlington Coat Factory Robbers Arrested in Stolen Car

The Elk Grove store was robbed Monday, but the stolen merchandise was recovered along with a car that had been reported stolen, police say.

Four teenagers who are accused of stealing merchandise from the Elk Grove Burlington Coat Factory and fleeing in a stolen car were arrested Monday.

Police responded to the store, at 9175 E. Stockton Blvd., after reports of a theft just before 4 p.m.

A loss-prevention officer at the store saw two males flee the store with stolen merchandise and then drive away in a silver Chevrolet Cruze, according to an Elk Grove Police Department crime log.

Police spotted the car–which had been reported stolen by the CHP–driving north on Highway 99.

"Officers initiated a felony vehicle stop when the vehicle exited Florin Road and pulled into a parking lot," the crime log states.

Two of the occupants, 15 and 14-year-old male Sacramento residents, "were positively identified [by a witness] as the individuals responsible for the theft," the crime log states. A 17-year-old male Sacramento resident had been driving the car, police say.

A fourth occupant of the car, 18-year-old Jessica Wardlaw, had a felony warrant out for her arrest.

All four teens were arrested and taken either to the Sacramento County Juvenile Hall or the Main Jail; Wardlaw has since been released, county records show.

"The stolen vehicle was returned to the owner and the stolen merchandise was recovered then returned to the store," the crime log states.
