Power Outage Triggers Flare Stack at Propane Facility

UPDATE, 11:52 a.m.: The Cosumnes Fire Department says the propane plant is in "controlled operations."

Original post: The propane facility in the southern area of Elk Grove has lost partial power, causing its flare stack to burn off excess gas, fire officials report.

Suburban Propane, located on Grant Line Road near Highway 99, is home to millions of gallons of the gas, but the Cosumnes Fire Department says there is no risk of fire or explosion.

The Elk Grove Police Department warned drivers to expect delays in the area, but now report the streets have reopened.
