Woman Confronts Seller About Fake Gold Chain, Seller's Son Allegedly Steals Her Purse

The confrontation happened Wednesday afternoon on Elk Grove Boulevard, according to police.

Elk Grove Police say a 19-year-old woman bought a gold chain that turned out to be fake, and when she confronted the seller about it, the seller's son stole her purse.

The buyer purchased the chain from the female seller Tuesday in Sacramento, police say. When the chain changed colors, the woman confronted the seller around 4 p.m. Wednesday in the 8400 block of Elk Grove Boulevard, according to an Elk Grove Police Department crime log.

"During the confrontation, [the seller's son] took [the buyer's] purse by force," the crime log states. "[The seller and her son] fled the location in a vehicle driven by another individual."

The seller's son was described "as a Hispanic male, 16 to 18 years of age, 5-foot-3, with brown hair and brown eyes. [He] was wearing a gray hat and black shirt."

Police say the seller was a Hispanic woman in her 30s, "4-foot-9, with brown hair and brown eyes. [She] was wearing a gray shirt and black pants."
