Boulevard Bistro Makes OpenTable Top 100

Hometown favorite has earned a spot on OpenTable's list of the 100 best restaurants in the United States for 2011, the Sacramento Business Journal reported Tuesday.

The online reservations company based its list on reviews diners provided between Dec. 2010 and Nov. 2011.

The unranked list includes three other eateries in the Sacramento region, and a number of entries from smaller suburbs around the country, from White Bear Lake, MN to Downers Grove, IL. No restaurants from San Francisco or Los Angeles made the list, suggesting perhaps—as the Biz Journal's Mark Anderson speculates—that diners in those cities are more reluctant with their praise.

Boulevard Bistro's seasonal American cuisine, served in a cozy turn-of-the-century house on Elk Grove Blvd, has garnered top rankings in several local competitions since the restaurant opened in 2006. This year, owners Bret and Debora Bohlmann opened , Baguettes Deli, on Elk Grove Florin Road.

"We're excited," Bret Bohlmann told Elk Grove Patch Tuesday from the restaurant's kitchen, where he was preparing to serve a large dinner party. "We were on it last year, too, but we kinda kept it to ourselves. [This time] we made sure to tell all the staff here and they were happy to be recognized."
