Cash Mob Comes To Elk Grove

Take cover! Just kidding.

A cash mob will hit Elk Grove Saturday.

Nope, that's not an unruly crowd of thugs trying to grab your wallet. It's actually a tactic to support small, local businesses that's gaining steam nationwide.

An announcement goes out over social media, and shoppers descend on a store en masse at a particular time—like a flash mob with spending power.

This local version is sponsored by community chat room Elk Grove Online, and will make stops at Embellish Home Decor, and . Participants commit to spending at least $20 over the course of the day.

Check out the for more information, including what time the mob will hit each store. To get an idea of what a cash mob looks like, check out from our sister Patch site in Huntington, New York.

The Elk Grove Online folks say they plan to hold more cash mobs on future Saturdays.

Why not down to Grantline and then head back north along the freeway? Plus Kammerer will eventuallyRead More be widened all the way to I-5 and commuters can use that too. Take Grantline to Kammerer to Bruceville.

An overpass and off/on ramps will be built at Whitelock Parkway after the mall is built, whichRead More should take place after the soccer stadium is built, which should take place after the city secures a professional soccer team. Elk Grove better make sure the professional soccer team is a women's team, or else LaWanna Montgomery will be mad.

Thanks for the suggestion. The City is currently studying a new interchange off 99 and Whitelock,Read More and the project is in our General Plan. We’re also updating the Elk Grove Blvd. onramp—currently one of the most outdated on 99 in the region. Work will begin this summer.
