Is Apple's New iMac Being Secretly Built in Elk Grove?

The workforce went from 1,200 to 1,800 at Apple's campus in Elk Grove since 2011.

Some of Apple's new, ultra-thin iMacs were assembled in the United States, according to this Tech Crunch article. Most Apple products are made in China.

Some have speculated that those American-made products are being assembled in Elk Grove. 

"The backside stamp containing the serial code and FCC logo generally says 'Designed by Apple in California. Assembled in China,'" says theTech Crunch story. But some of the new iMacs say "Assembled in USA."

The Sacramento Business Journal recently reported that Apple's Elk Grove workforce grew "50 percent in a year." The workforce went from 1,200 to 1,800 at Apple's campus in Elk Grove since 2011, but the specifics of what they're doing has been kept secret.
