It's the Final Day for Capital Nursery: Will You Miss It?

The chain's two remaining stores in Elk Grove and Citrus Heights will close for good on Thursday.

Citrus Heights and Elk Grove residents with green thumbs will have to look elsewhere for plants and other gardening materials starting Friday: Thursday is the final day for the two remaining Capital Nursery stores.

The store posted this farewell message to its Facebook page Thursday morning:

"Today is the last day for Capital Nursery. It's been great! Made alot of great friends over the years. You all will be missed. Thank you for being customers and friends. If you haven't stop by, please stop by and tell us good bye."

The chain sold off its original store, on Freeport Boulevard, earlier this year, and announced plans to close the remaining stores last month.

"We've had recessions in the past and always survived those, but this one is a little worse because of the housing bubble bursting," . "People aren't spending the money."
