CA, Sac Region Add Jobs, But Unemployment Still Rises

Mixed news in latest jobs report from state

California added 28,800 jobs in June, according to the latest numbers from the state's Employment Development Department—showing better job growth than the country as a whole.

But in a separate survey, the state's unemployment rate still increased slightly, to 11.8 percent of the workforce.

The picture was similar for the Sacramento region, according to The Sacramento Bee, with payrolls growing by 13,500 jobs but unemployment rising by six-tenths of a point to 12.3 percent—one of the highest rates in the state.
