The Fresh Market Plans to Open in Elk Grove

This will be the market's second California location.

The Fresh Market plans to open two Sacramento area locations in the fall — one in Elk Grove and the other in Sacramento.

These two Fresh Markets will be the company's second and third locations in California. .

The Elk Grove location will be in the Laguna Crossroads Shopping Center, on Laguna Boulevard near Bruceville Road, the company announced Thursday. The third store will be located at 2339 Fair Oaks Blvd. in Sacramento.

“We have enjoyed a warm welcome in Roseville, where we opened our first California store this past fall,” said Randy Kelley, senior vice president of real estate and development for The Fresh Market, in a press release. “We are excited about our continued expansion in California, and in the greater Sacramento area in particular, and we look forward to providing customers in the Fair Oaks and Elk Grove communities with the same quality products and excellent customer service that our shoppers experience in other markets.”

The Fresh Market has an “old-world European market” feel and will house a bakery, a meat counter and a large produce department, according to the press release.

“Customers will discover that our stores are committed to variety, freshness and value as well as superior customer service,” Craig Carlock, the company’s president and CEO, said in a news release.

The company also has plans to open several other stores in California. They are currently in development in Palo Alto, Santa Barbara and Laguna Hills.

Laguna Crossings is not a location description that most people can identify with. A well written story would give the actual address or at least cross streets.

Hi Sarah, the store is going into the Laguna Crossroads Shopping Center, which is the center on Laguna where Save Mart and Borders once were. Sorry for the mixup and not giving more information. The east coast PR people who sent this info out didn't include the actual address, so I'm not sure which space it will fill.

Guess Target would be the store most could identify with. I believe DWS Shoes is going into the Borders location so it must be the Save Mart location.

Probably the SaveMart store then. Watch out Sprouts!

I've heard these are even more expensive and high end than a Whole Foods....how long will it last?

Its turned out to be a pretty nice shopping center. the big anchors Target, Michaels, etc. as well as some nice smaller stores, Leslie Pool, Abbey Flooring, etc. I've bought everything from milk to flooring in the that center.

Why not down to Grantline and then head back north along the freeway? Plus Kammerer will eventuallyRead More be widened all the way to I-5 and commuters can use that too. Take Grantline to Kammerer to Bruceville.

An overpass and off/on ramps will be built at Whitelock Parkway after the mall is built, whichRead More should take place after the soccer stadium is built, which should take place after the city secures a professional soccer team. Elk Grove better make sure the professional soccer team is a women's team, or else LaWanna Montgomery will be mad.

Thanks for the suggestion. The City is currently studying a new interchange off 99 and Whitelock,Read More and the project is in our General Plan. We’re also updating the Elk Grove Blvd. onramp—currently one of the most outdated on 99 in the region. Work will begin this summer.
