Would You Use an Elk Grove Event Center?

Company wants to build new spot for weddings, meetings.

More affordable than a hotel, but fancier than a community center.

That's how Utah company The Falls describes the event center it wants to build in Elk Grove.

The center would be located on Elk Grove Blvd between Big Horn Blvd and Laguna Springs Drive, right next to the City of Elk Grove's planned new civic center, according to the Sacramento Business Journal.

Company executives told the Business Journal they hope to appeal to budget-conscious customers who would book the facility online for weddings, quinceañeras, meetings and other events. There would be no overnight accommodations, but the buildings would boast theaters, waterfalls and game rooms. Party hosts could bring their own food or hire caterers.

The project, which hasn't yet received approval from planning authorities, could conflict with City officials have already said they want to build a hotel and conference center on the civic center site, most likely in partnership with a private company.
