The Wake-Up Call: Game Time, Donation Dinner

Here's what's happening in and around Elk Grove today.

It's hard to believe that September is already half over.  As the Autumnal Equinox approaches, we Elk Grovians are in fast-forward mode, enjoying cooler nights and longer dog walks.  Keep the momentum going by checking out a hybrid exercise/español class, supporting our local food bank or engaging in recreational activities from a different era.

Foreign fitness.  Join instructor Evey Torres-Russo from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Spanish Language Institute for an hour of chair dancing while learning basic Spanish phrases.  Course is by appointment, so call (916) 753-5896 and reserve your spot.  Can't make it this afternoon?  There's also a Friday session from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Food-based fundraiser.  Dine at between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. and they'll donate 15 percent of your bill to Elk Grove Food Bank Services in conjunction with Cosumnes River College Students in Free Enterprise.  Just bring in the , present it to your server when you order and let the giving begin.

Come out and play.  In honor of author Mark Twain, né Samuel L. Clemens, invites families to participate in a game session inspired by characters Huckleberry Finn, Tom Sawyer and Becky Thatcher.  Old Fashioned Games goes from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is free to the public.
