FREE eWaste Recycling Event

The Pleasant Grove High Band Boosters is sponsoring a FREE Electronic Waste Recycling Day for all area residents and businesses on Saturday, January 19th, 2013 from 9:00
am to 3:00 pm at Pleasant Grove High School in Elk Grove.

Band students will be working rain or shine to assist Y-Not Recycle, a certified State of California E-waste collector/recycler, to collect television sets/screens, laptops, computer systems and components, fax machines, copiers, scanners, printers, and toner/ink cartridges, MP3, CD and DVD players and discs, video gaming consoles and games, cell phones, stereo components, and household telephones. Items that cannot be accepted include any type of light bulb, household appliances, small electrics, electronic or battery-operated tools, and appliances, including microwaves or batteries.

E-waste is the common name for electronic products that have reached the end of their useful life. Computers,
televisions, copiers, mobile phones, and fax machines are common electronic products that make up one of the fastest growing disposal problems in the state of California.
Because of heavy metals and other toxic substances contained in these items, the state has prohibited their disposal in public landfills. Many municipalities charge a fee per item to pick up these items from homes and businesses because they have to be disposed of in a special manner.

YNot will make a cash contribution to the Music Programs at Pleasant Grove High School and Katherine Albiani
Middle School to help underwrite band events, trips and other expenses, like music and equipment purchases.  It is a win-win situation for the whole community!

On the day of the event, bring your electronic equipment to the Pleasant Grove High School parking lot, located at 9531 Bond Road, Elk Grove, 95624, entering the campus from School Loop Road off Bond. Signs and volunteers will direct drivers through the parking lot to the collection area, and back out of the campus.
