2 Men Arrested After Tires Allegedly Slashed, Shotgun Fired into Air

Two 25-year-old men argued Friday night, and both ended up in jail.

Two men were arrested in Elk Grove's Laguna area Friday night after one allegedly slashed the other's tires, then the other fired a shotgun into the air, according to police.

Elk Grove police say 25-year-old Dale Roberts and 25-year-old Samuel Peoples were in an argument around 7:30 p.m. Friday in the 5400 block of Tegan Road after Peoples allegedly slashed the tires of Roberts' car.

Roberts and a witness confronted Peoples, who "was holding a large knife in his right hand," according to a police log.

Peoples walked toward the alleged tire-slashing victim, who proceeded to return to his car and pull a shotgun out from under the back seat, police say.

"[Roberts] loaded the shotgun, with a single shotgun shell, then fired the shotgun into the air," the crime log states. "[Peoples] ran off with the knife down Tegan Road."

According to the crime log, officers found Peoples running westbound on Tegan, still gripping the knife. After several commands, Peoples put down the knife, but still resisted arrest, police say.

"[Peoples] was eventually handcuffed and placed in a restraint device," the crime log states. "[Peoples] was arrested for vandalism and resisting arrest then transported to the main jail. [Roberts] was arrested for negligent discharge of a firearm then transported to the main jail. The knife, shotgun and a shell casing were recovered."
