Car Crash Victims Identified

Police investigating accident at intersection of Kammerer and Mcmillan Roads.

The Sacramento County Coroner has released the names of a man and a woman who died in an accident at the intersection of Kammerer and Mcmillan Roads Tuesday evening.

The Elk Grove Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash that killed Ashley Simpson, 21, and Christopher Ragosa, 34, both of Elk Grove.

The crash happened around 5:30 p.m., when a Ford Mustang driven by Simpson was traveling west on Kammerer Road and veered into oncoming traffic, police said.

It was struck by a Ford Focus going in the opposite direction, and rolled over on its side.

Simpson and Ragosa, who was riding with her, died at the scene, said Elk Grove Police spokesperson Christopher Trim. The driver of the Focus has been transported to a hospital for treatment, Trim said. His condition is unknown.

Parts of Kammerer Road were closed for several hours Tuesday evening while police conducted their investigation. Trim said it's still unclear why Simpson lost control of the car. Investigators at the scene did not find any indication that drugs or alcohol were involved, he said.
