Couple Arrested on Suspicion of Possession of Stolen Property, Drugs

Elk Grove man, Sacramento woman, were sleeping in an illegally parked car at the time of their arrest.

A Sacramento couple went to jail Sunday after being found in possession of drugs and stolen property according to the Yolo County Sheriff's Department. 

Police say Alwin Reynon Santiago, 37, of Elk Grove, and Tanya Rae Hailey, 35, of Sacramento, were sleeping in a vehicle parked illegally at Merritt's Landing Boat Ramp located on South River Road at County Road 142 in Clarksburg. 

Officers came upon the couple at 10:20 a.m., Sunday, and found several stolen items including drivers' licenses, social security cards, mail, documents and personal account information. Shaved keys, drug paraphernalia, and .18 grams of methamphetamine also were found in the vehicle.

Santiago and Hailey were arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools (shaved keys), possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and the transportation of a controlled substance. Hailey is also being charged with providing false information to peace officer.

The couple was booked into custody at the Yolo County Jail. Santiago’s bail was set at $20,000. Hailey’s bail was set at $160,000. Santiago and Hailey are scheduled to be arraigned at the Yolo County Superior Court Wednesday, October 9, 2013.
