Driver Asleep at the Wheel Blocks Traffic at Elk Grove Blvd. Intersection (Police Log)

The suspect show "objective signs of impairment," according to Elk Grove Police officials.

Traffic at the intersection of Elk Grove and Franklin boulevards waited last Saturday as a Stockton resident slept inside of his car which was idling in the middle of the road.

According to the Elk Grove Police arrest log, upon arrival around 4:55 a.m., officers found the man in the car, passed out at the wheel.

"When officers attempted to wake up the suspect, he suddenly awoke and drove away from the location," according to the report.

Officers drove after the suspect, stopped him, where they saw that the man was showing signs of impairment, according to the report. After performing a field sobriety test, which the suspect failed, officers placed him under arrest.
