UPDATE: 4-Vehicle Elk Grove Crash Hospitalizes 8

The crash on Laguna Boulevard, near Neosho Drive, was reported at 8;30 p.m., according to police.

This article has been modified to include details of the crash.

A crash involving four vehicles Friday night in Elk Grove injured eight people, but no major injuries were reported, authorities said.

The crash on Laguna Boulevard, near Neosho Drive, was reported at 8:30 p.m., according to Cosumnes Deputy fire Chief John Michelini.

Investigators determined that two vehicles traveling east on Laguna and two vehicles traveling west on Laguna became involved in a "chain reaction collision," reported Elk Grove police Detective James Kang.

An SUV carrying seven people overturned when struck by one of the other vehicles, the detective said.

The occupants were a mother and six children ranging in age from seven to 16.  One child suffered a cut to her head and was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment, Kang said.

The other six occupants of the vehicle had complaints of pain and were also taken to a hospital as a precaution, the detective reported.

The driver of another involved vehicle was taken to an area hospital with a complaint of pain.

"She did not have any visible injuries," Kang reported.

Initial investigation does not show drug or alcohol involvement in the crash though the cause of the crash was still under investigation Friday night.

Anyone with information was asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department Traffic Bureau at 916-478-8148.

Thanks for the suggestion. The City is currently studying a new interchange off 99 and Whitelock,Read More and the project is in our General Plan. We’re also updating the Elk Grove Blvd. onramp—currently one of the most outdated on 99 in the region. Work will begin this summer.

An overpass and off/on ramps will be built at Whitelock Parkway after the mall is built, whichRead More should take place after the soccer stadium is built, which should take place after the city secures a professional soccer team. Elk Grove better make sure the professional soccer team is a women's team, or else LaWanna Montgomery will be mad.

Why not down to Grantline and then head back north along the freeway? Plus Kammerer will eventuallyRead More be widened all the way to I-5 and commuters can use that too. Take Grantline to Kammerer to Bruceville.
