Fatality Reported in Accident on Highway 99
A crash near Laguna Boulevard caused a partial shutdown of the highway Saturday evening.
At least one person was killed Saturday evening when an SUV that was merging onto northbound Highway 99 from Laguna Boulevard collided with a minivan, according to the Cosumnes Fire Department, which responded to the scene.
Several other passengers were injured in the accident, which occurred around 7:30 p.m., CFD Chief Tracey Hansen said. There were children in at least one of the vehicles, she said.
The California Highway Patrol closed part of the highway while it investigated the crash, but all lanes were open again as of 10:30 p.m.
