Elk Grove police are searching for a suspect in a stabbing that took place near the intersection of Whitelock Parkway and Bellaterra Drive Thursday afternoon.
Police responding to a call around 4:00 p.m. found a boy between the ages of 16 and 18 with stab wounds to the stomach and chest. The boy, a student at the nearby , is being treated at a local hospital for wounds that doctors told detectives were "superficial" and non-life-threatening, according to Elk Grove Police Department spokesperson Chris Trim.
Trim said the victim was fighting with his attacker just before the stabbing, according to witnesses. The fight began at the corner of Whitelock Parkway and Atkins Drive and traveled down the street, Trim said.
Officers are working on identifying the suspected stabber, who they described as a Latino boy, also between 16 and 18, who stands 5'11" high and weighs between 120 and 130 lbs. He was wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans and armed with a knife, police said.
"Our detectives are getting some very good information, so hopefully there will be a quick resolution," in the case, Trim said.
