Fire Forces Evacuation of Home Depot

The West Stockton Blvd store has reopened after being evacuated this morning due to a fire in an experior dumpster.

A fire at on West Stockton Blvd Monday morning caused employees and customers to evacuate the building.

The fire, which started in in an exterior trash compactor attached to the building, was reported at 8:40 a.m., said Deputy Chief John Michelini of the .

Firefighters worked with Home Depot personnel to pull the dumpster away from the building, Michelini said. The fully enclosed dumpster was about 20 feet long, 8 feet wide and 10 feet high.

The fire was completely extinguished and customers were let back in the store within an hour, Michelini said.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
