Firefighters Suspect Arson in Sheldon High Blaze

The fire caused $40,000 in damage to a portable classroom, but no one was hurt.

Sacramento firefighters say someone placed a garbage can against the wall of a classroom and intentionally ignited it, causing $40,000 in damage early Wednesday morning.

No one was hurt in the blaze, which was reported around 3:30 a.m. and took 24 firefighters to contain.

The fire is under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call Sacramento Metro Fire at (916) 859-4300.

The campus sits at 8333 Kingsbridge Dr. in Sacramento and is part of the . A district spokesperson said the damaged building was mostly used for after-school programs.
