Dear Parent/Guardian,

Yesterday afternoon we received a report that a Franklin High School student was approached by a man who told her to “come here” as she walked home from school at about 3:30 p.m.  The student was at Boa Nova and Stathos Drives when a silver four door car drove up beside her and one of the three males in the car exited the vehicle. When he called out to the student, she ran home where she reported the incident to her family who in turn called the police.

The man was described as having facial hair and wearing a black beanie and a white t-shirt.  Law enforcement is investigating.  Based on their investigation, this incident appears to be unrelated to the one we reported to you earlier this month.

We are able to share this information with you because a Franklin High School student did the right thing and reported this to an adult.  At Franklin High School we tell our students that “if you see something, or know something, say something.”   Anyone who wants to report a crime or suspicious incident on campus can call the school, EGUSD Police Services at 686-7786 or the toll-free number We-Tip, 1-800-78-CRIME.

Please take some time to talk to your students about the following protocols when walking to or from school:

  • Do not talk to strangers, even if they know your name.
  • Always walk directly to and from school using the same path every day.
  • Always walk or ride your bike with a group of friends.
  • Run directly to school or home if you are approached by a stranger.
  • Immediately notify a school official or parent.

If you have any questions, please contact me at the school.
