Franklin HS Student Grabbed by Stranger Before First Day of School

The girl was able to pull away after being grabbed by the arm from behind.

An Elk Grove teen was grabbed by a stranger on her way to her first day of school Thursday, authorities say.

The student was walking to Franklin High School and was near Trapani and Travo ways when the incident happened, Elk Grove Police Department spokesman Officer Chris Trim said.

She was grabbed by the arm from behind around 7:30 a.m., but was able to pull away and escape, Trim said.

"She reported the incident to a family member, who in turn called the Elk Grove Police Department and then the school," Trim said in an email.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 30s, standing about 5-foot-9, with a stocky build, short black hair and "pock marks on his face." He was wearing a white T-shirt and jeans, police say.

"Detectives will be working with the victim and a sketch artist to create a composite of the suspect," Trim said.
