It appears that an online trend called "Gallon Smashing" has now swept through Elk Grove.
Here's how it works: Somebody walks through a grocery store aisle with a couple of gallons of milk (or juice) in their hands. And then, seemingly out of nowhere, they take a nasty spill, causing both gallons to explode.
But the fall is not accidental. It's a deliberate act that will later get uploaded to YouTube.
The Safeway store on Laguna Boulevard was hit by a gallon smasher last Friday, according to Fox40. They say police are still looking at details.
“These kids are opening themselves up to a lot of liability,” Elk Grove Police Officer Chris Trim told Fox40. “If I were a parent I’d have a harsh discussion and make sure they weren’t participating in this.”
