Galt Police Shoot, Kill Man, Sac Bee Reports

Several months after an officer-involved shooting in Elk Grove, Galt experiences one of its own.

It's been just over four months since while he was handcuffed in the back of a police car, causing a minor cheek wound.

Today, the neighboring town of Galt saw its own officer-involved shooting, with a more tragic result.

The Sacramento Bee reports that Galt Police Department officers shot and killed a 25-year-old man armed with a knife, after responding to a report that he had assaulted his mother. A statement from the department said the man had threatened to kill officers. The shooting is under investigation.

The Sacramento County District Attorney's office has yet to release the results of its investigation into the Elk Grove shooting. In that incident, police also said the victim, 32-year-old John Hesselbein, was combative and threatened officers in the moments before he was shot.
