Grass Fire Contained Near I-5 and Twin Cities Rd.

The cause was a vehicle on fire, according to the Cosumnes Fire Department.

A car fire spread and turned into a half-acre grass fire on I-5 south of Elk Grove Thursday night.

The Cosumnes Fire Department reported on Twitter that the fire broke out around 10 p.m. along northbound I-5 near Twin Cities Road.

The fire was described as having a "rapid rate of spread," and the department dispatched four grass engines, a water tender and a command officer to the scene.

Firefighters had contained the fire by 10:07 p.m., according to a post on the social media website.
