Hazmat Concern at Elk Grove Apple Plant Deemed Safe

One employee was taken to the hospital.

The Apple facility in Elk Grove was briefly evacuated and evaluated by a Hazmat team Wednesday morning after an employee felt ill after working on an iPod, authorities have said.

Cosumnes Fire Department Deputy Chief John Michelini said there was some concern about "contamination," but the building was deemed to be safe.

"There doesn't seem to be any correlation with anything here at the work site," Michelini said. "Everything is back to normal."
