Jan. 10-17: Officers Injured, Man Caught Stealing Tools

Police also nab an underage drunk driver and a boy with a BB gun.

Officers Injured Making Arrest

Two Elk Grove Police Department officers were hurt when they tried to break up a street fight Friday.

The officers spotted several youths fighting in the middle of the street near the intersection of Auto Passage and Laguna Springs Drive around 3:45 p.m.

When they tried to detain a 14-year-old boy, he attempted to pull away and break free. A struggle on the ground ensued, with two officers suffering minor injuries while trying to handcuff the boy.

He was eventually arrested on suspicion of resisting an officer and battery against an officer, and taken to juvenile hall. The officers were treated for their injuries.

Walnut Creek Man Takes Off With Tools in Wee Hours

A man in the 5200 block of Jilson Way saw his tools being stolen from the back of his pickup truck early Friday morning and phoned the EGPD, who spotted the suspect vehicle–a white Volvo–not far away.

At around 3:15 a.m. officers pulled the driver of the Volvo over and saw two tool boxes in the back of the car.

The pickup truck owner was called to the scene to identify the tool boxes. Stephen Hart, 31, of Walnut Creek, was arrested on suspicion of theft, and taken to the main Sacramento County jail.

Boy, 14, Brandishes BB Gun

A 14-year-old Elk Grove boy allegedly pulled a BB gun on another 14-year-old boy inside a vehicle on Sunday afternoon.

Police found the juvenile suspect near Club Park and Migration drives, searched him and found a black Airsoft gun that had been modified with the orange safety tip removed.

After being identified by the victim, the boy was arrested and taken to juvenile hall.

Underage DUI Arrest After Man Drives Into Ditch

After being found standing next to a vehicle stuck in a ditch at Bradshaw and Shelton roads early Sunday morning, 18-year-old Kendall Schroeder was arrested on multiple DUI-related charges.

The Elk Grove man was identified by witnesses as the driver of the vehicle just after 2:20 a.m., and showed signs of impairment and failed field sobriety tests, the EGPD stated.

He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, having a blood alcohol content of more than 0.08 percent and a separate offense of impaired driving while under the age of 21.
