Laguna Blvd Reopened After Jeep Veered Onto Median

A driver collided with some trees on the median of Laguna Blvd near Bruceville Road early Friday morning.

Police have reopened Laguna Blvd between DiLusso and Bruceville Road after a single-vehicle accident caused the closure of the street for several hours this morning.

A Jeep Cherokee traveling westbound on Laguna ploughed onto the median around 4:00 a.m., striking several trees, Elk Grove Police Department spokesperson Officer Chris Trim said. No other vehicles were hit.

The driver, a woman, was taken to a nearby hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Her passenger had to be extricated from the car by firefighters but suffered only minor wounds.

Police shut down that section of the street in both directions for about three hours while they investigated the cause of the accident, which they have not yet determined.

Trim didn't say whether the driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
