Man Dead After Elk Grove SWAT Standoff Identified
Police had reason to believe the 52-year-old man was armed after he allegedly pistol-whipped his wife in front of their teenager.
A man who police say killed himself during a standoff in Elk Grove Tuesday has been identified.
The Sacramento County Coroner's Office identified the man as 52-year-old Jeffrey Allan Beeson, an Elk Grove resident.
An Elk Grove Police Department spokesman said Beeson was in an argument with his wife that turned violent. He allegedly struck her with a pistol, but she and their 15-year-old son were able to escape.

Police surrounded the home where Beeson was holed up, and when a SWAT team entered the home around 4:20 p.m., the man was found dead of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot, authorities said.
