Second Suspect Sought in Craigslist Robbery

Victim was forced to strip in Walmart parking lot Monday night, after arranging online to buy shoes from a stranger.

Police are searching for a second suspect in an armed robbery of a young man Monday night in the parking lot of Walmart, which left the victim standing naked after his money, clothes, cell phone and car keys were stolen.

One suspect – Stockton resident Everett Lewis, 24 – was arrested shortly after the robbery when Stockton police tracked down the truck he used to flee the scene, the Elk Grove Police Department reported. The second suspect, described as a black male in his twenties, 5'10” and 185 pounds, is still at large.

The robbery took place just after 7 p.m. The victim – a 23-year-old  Sacramento man – had arranged to meet the suspect to buy a pair of high-end Nike shoes he'd seen advertised on Craigslist, the EGPD reported. While the EGPD has responded to robberies related to Craigslist, it's not commonplace, department spokesperson Officer Chris Trim said.

“They're few and far between when they do occur,” he said.

While one suspect pointed a handgun, the suspects ordered the victim to remove his clothes, which he did except for his socks, the EGPD reported.

While the Walmart building has surveillance cameras that overlook the parking lot, it's unknown if they recorded the event.

“Our officers are in the process of reviewing that, but I don't know if anything's been captured yet, and even if there was, that's not something we'd release,” Trim said.
