Shooting Outside Bowling Alley; Victims Leave Before Cops Arrive

A shooting took place outside Pins N Strikes while police were on their way because of calls about a fight.

Two people were shot outside the Laguna Boulevard bowling alley Pins N Strikes early Sunday morning, police say.

Elk Grove Police Department spokesman Officer Chris Trim said officers were called to the business' parking lot around 12:45 a.m. Sunday because of a disturbance involving a group of "teenagers and young adults."

"While officers were responding, additional calls came in indicating that a shooting had taken place," Trim said in an email. "When officers arrived the victims were gone."

Trim said police learned the two victims had been driven to the hospital. Both were in their late teens or early 20s, he said.

"One male suffered a single gunshot wound to the ankle and a female suffered several gunshot wounds," Trim said, adding that the female was shot in the arm and hip area. "The injuries were not life threatening."

Police do not have a suspect or motive for the shootings, and have made no arrests, Trim said.

The Laguna Boulevard bowling alley where this incident took place has seen violence before. In March of 2011, a large fight sent four to the hospital. A few months later, a man was taunted with homophobic slurs before being assaulted in the parking lot.

The bowling alley's former owner "walked away from the business" before it was taken over and rebranded by its landlord, the Sacramento Business Journal reported in December of 2011.

"and a female suffered several gunshot wounds," "The injuries were not life threatening." After description of the where the bullet hit the male, this sounds like a throwaway treatment of the female. No mention of what type of security, if any Pins & Strikes employs.

This place should be shut down. What a cesspool in Elk Grove...

James, Officer Trim clarified that the female was shot in the arm and hip.

Its very sad that things like this have to ruin it for our community. We just want a safe place to have fun with our children and families. I know my children and I enjoy strikes very much. Its near our home Thats the worst part about this incident.

Leatherbees is next...elk grove is south sac now... Bunch of thugs...
Wendy March 4, 2013 at 05:12 pm
Totally agree. My husband and I am so tired about hearing about fights and shootouts at this place. We live less than 5 miles away. Or maybe they should change their hours and
close earlier in the evening since it seems most of these fights are happening late in the evening?

Honestly Strikes SHOULD NOT BE SHUT DOWN!!! There are not enought things for our teenagers and kids & families to do in Elk Grove... Maybe shut down the BAR & CLUB that is there for the adults in the late hours... Where there is ALCHOHOL and DRUGS there will always be violence!!!

"There are not enought things for our teenagers and kids & families to do in Elk Grove.."
Sacramento isn't that far away - what did teenagers and kids & families do before Elk Grove expanded to the ridiculous and seemingly unmanageable size it is now? We certianly didn't have shootings and gang problems we seem to have now. I chalk it up to greed and bad planning on the part of the (then) town and (now) city management. I do agree, however, that there should not be a Bar/Club within a reasonable vicinity of a family type business like a bowling alley - and the hours should more family oriented.

I have a easy solution to the persons causing the problems at strikes have face Recognition hooked up to Security cameras and if somebody has a rap sheet or is on probation they can be Searched their cars to for Weapons. Post signs telling everyone that is what is going to happen and the rotten apples will stay away the KISS Theory
Jim March 6, 2013 at 02:48 pm
Bill when you're done tonguing the owners of Strikes......let's be real please....its a hip hop club. It always has been a hip hop club.... there is NO reason that sports bar should continue to operate. Its not a sports bar... they want to keep the lanes open? Fine. but the nightclub garbage needs to go, period... This has been a problem with this facility that transcends every owner. Non-stop thug violence from scumbag gang-bangers and hip hop crowds...Not to mention...they masquerade the place as a sports abr...and you CANT watch sports in there half the time because they have all the lights and stage rigging for hip hop acts on the stage blocking the screens! During March madness!!!!!! They are pandering to the lowest common denominator of South Sac and deserve their fate....Sorry...you FRIENDS have not made the changes that they NEED to in order to make this place worth going to. I wont have my kids stepping around the broken glass on the floor to visit this DUMP.

I think that some of you are ridiculous......what makes you better than anyone else? You are bashing and generalizing a whole area of a city? That is soooooo intelligent and such a good example for those of you with children. I think it is going to be hilarious when one of your kids bring home someone from the S Sac area and tells you that this is the person they are going to spend their life with.......are you then going to rant and rave about S Sac and how there is nothing but thugs and hip hop scumbags? I feel sorry for people like you. It is terrible what happened at the bowling alley, but let's compound the problem by sounding like racist biggots....that oughta fix her right up! Give me a break.
Jim March 7, 2013 at 05:18 pm
David, Have you been tested for additional chromosomes? What they do at Strikes IS A HIP HOP NIGHTCLUB. Lets check the demographics on the pieces of excrement that have been arrested there over the past 4 years...WOW....predominantly SOUTH SAC...if it looks like trash, smells like trash...it is..sorry you bought a house and are underwater in South Sac....
Good luck crusader! Stay the F@#%$#% out of Elk Grove....
David M Green March 7, 2013 at 07:18 pm
Listen Jim, I dont live very far from you, you coward. I dont reside in S Sac, butt I do know that you wouldnt be talking all that s@#&t if you ever found yourself there. I will see you again real soon in the neighborhood and I WILL introduce myself. Until then you and your family have a
great night Jim. People like yourself will never change.....so continue woth your skewed opinions and I will ignore them as they are not worthy of my time. You will ALWAYS be part of the problem and never the solution. May God help you.
Jim March 8, 2013 at 04:44 pm
You wanna try some passive aggressive threat? GO FOR IT. I am in that neighborhood all the time buddy and I'm not scared of you or that area. The hip hop #%$@ at Strikes doesn't belong there. YOU KNOW THIS but want to skew the argument to something else to deflect. When you introduce yourself...you'd better think long and hard about what you're looking for. I defend myself and my family and will do so with extreme prejudice against pieces of @%#$ that try to pretend their life is a retarded rap video. Ending the situation by ELIMINATING the source of the DRUGS and the VIOLENCE isnt being part of the problem...its ending it.

Why not down to Grantline and then head back north along the freeway? Plus Kammerer will eventuallyRead More be widened all the way to I-5 and commuters can use that too. Take Grantline to Kammerer to Bruceville.

An overpass and off/on ramps will be built at Whitelock Parkway after the mall is built, whichRead More should take place after the soccer stadium is built, which should take place after the city secures a professional soccer team. Elk Grove better make sure the professional soccer team is a women's team, or else LaWanna Montgomery will be mad.

Thanks for the suggestion. The City is currently studying a new interchange off 99 and Whitelock,Read More and the project is in our General Plan. We’re also updating the Elk Grove Blvd. onramp—currently one of the most outdated on 99 in the region. Work will begin this summer.
