SWAT Team Descends on Corbally Court

Elk Grove police arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of weapons possession and probation violation Wednesday afternoon.

Elk Grove police officers called out a SWAT team and canine unit to the 8700 block of Corbally Court Wednesday afternoon and arrested a young man on an outstanding felony warrant.

The incident caused the evacuation of at least one neighboring household and the closure of several streets in the residential area near where Sheldon Road meets Freesia Drive.

Police say Brandon Gutierrez, 21, was wanted for weapons possession and probation violation, and retreated into his house when officers arrived at about 1:00 p.m. Elk Grove Police Department spokesperson Chris Trim said officers called for extra backup after yells and phone calls to the house produced no response.

As the SWAT team was assembling around 3:00 p.m., Trim said, Gutierrez left the house and took off running. He was bitten on the arm by a police dog, stopped, and was arrested.

Gutierrez was taken to receive medical care and will then be transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail, Trim said.
