Two teenagers and a 21-year-old were arrested in Elk Grove Thursday after authorities say they were found with a stolen gun. Two of them also had warrants out for their arrest.

They were stopped around 12:45 p.m. while driving on Laguna Springs Drive, according to an Elk Grove Police Department crime log. Sacramento resident Carlos Daniel Lopez, 19, was driving and was found to have a warrant out for his arrest on misdemeanor charges of buying or receiving stolen property.

His passenger, 21-year-old Ernesto Chavez of Sacramento, was wanted on felony drug charges.

In the backseat of the car was a 17-year-old boy from Elk Grove hiding a fixed-blade knife in his waistband, according to the crime log. A loaded gun that had been reported stolen was found in the rear armrest near where the 17-year-old had been sitting, the crime log states.

Lopez, who was found to be a validated street gang member, was found with a bullet that matched the ammunition in the gun, the police department said.

The trio was arrested, with Lopez and Chavez being taken to the Sacramento County Main Jail and the 17-year-old being taken to juvenile hall.

Lopez is being held on his warrant as well as gang participation, gun and stolen property charges; his bail is set at $110,500 and he is due in court Monday. Chavez is being held on his warrant and charges similar to Lopez's; he's also due in court Monday.

Why not down to Grantline and then head back north along the freeway? Plus Kammerer will eventuallyRead More be widened all the way to I-5 and commuters can use that too. Take Grantline to Kammerer to Bruceville.

An overpass and off/on ramps will be built at Whitelock Parkway after the mall is built, whichRead More should take place after the soccer stadium is built, which should take place after the city secures a professional soccer team. Elk Grove better make sure the professional soccer team is a women's team, or else LaWanna Montgomery will be mad.

Thanks for the suggestion. The City is currently studying a new interchange off 99 and Whitelock,Read More and the project is in our General Plan. We’re also updating the Elk Grove Blvd. onramp—currently one of the most outdated on 99 in the region. Work will begin this summer.
