Woman Carjacked at Gunpoint in Elk Grove

A woman sitting in her car in the 9600 block of Bruceville Road was carjacked by an armed man, police say.

A 19-year-old woman was carjacked by an armed man Monday afternoon in Elk Grove, police say.

The victim was sitting in her car with the window rolled down around noon in the 9600 block of Bruceville Road, according to an Elk Grove Police Department crime log.

An unknown man came up to the car and put his arm on the window so the woman couldn't roll it up, then showed her a handgun wrapped in cloth, police say.

The suspect pushed the victim into the driver's seat, drove a short distance until another car honked at him, then stopped and told the woman to get out of the car, the crime log states. The suspect also took the woman's cell phone before driving away, police say.

According to the crime log, the suspect is described as "a Hispanic male adult, 6-foot-1, 250 pounds, with brown eyes and long hair in a pony tail. He was wearing a blue short sleeve shirt, white collared T-shirt, blue denim pants and white shoes."

The victim's vehicle is a maroon 2002 Mitsubishi Galant, California license plate No. 5EEW575. The car's right rear is dented and the car has a "Baby on Board" sign in the rear window.

Anyone with information on the crime can call the department at (916) 627-3333 or report a tip online.

Thanks for the suggestion. The City is currently studying a new interchange off 99 and Whitelock,Read More and the project is in our General Plan. We’re also updating the Elk Grove Blvd. onramp—currently one of the most outdated on 99 in the region. Work will begin this summer.

An overpass and off/on ramps will be built at Whitelock Parkway after the mall is built, whichRead More should take place after the soccer stadium is built, which should take place after the city secures a professional soccer team. Elk Grove better make sure the professional soccer team is a women's team, or else LaWanna Montgomery will be mad.

Why not down to Grantline and then head back north along the freeway? Plus Kammerer will eventuallyRead More be widened all the way to I-5 and commuters can use that too. Take Grantline to Kammerer to Bruceville.
