Bera to Hold Celebration in Elk Grove Sunday

'Volunteer appreciation party' planned for two days after Bera's opponent conceded in the Congressional race.

Since Elk Grove resident Ami Bera earlier this week announced plans for a volunteer appreciation party, he's received a lot more news to celebrate.

Bera's tight contest against Rep. Dan Lungren (R-Gold River) for a seat in Congress was called by the Associated Press on Thursday, and Lungren conceded on Friday.

Bera will celebrate with volunteers Sunday at his campaign's Elk Grove office.

"Our amazing volunteers made the difference in this election," Bera's campaign said in a flier for the event. "Please join us to celebrate your hard work!"

The event will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at 7803 Laguna Blvd., Suite 200.
