CarMax Store Approved Near Elk Grove

Massive used car seller CarMax will soon have a location near Elk Grove.

Sacramento County officials approved a 19-acre CarMax Auto Superstore at 8105 - 8141 East Stockton Blvd., near Calvine Road and Highway 99.

"This project will add to the County’s economic base within the South Sacramento community and generate much needed sales tax revenue," a press release quoted District 2 Supervisor Jimmie Yee as saying. "With easy access to the freeways, this is an ideal site for car sales."

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2013, and will take place in two phases: The first will be a 20,000 square-foot sales building, a service building, a car wash and the parking lot. The second phase will expand the service building and car wash.

The South Sacramento Community Planning Advisory Council voted unanimously in favor of the project, the press release states.
