Civic Center Debate Makes New York Times

Is it a squid or an octopus? Readers nationwide want to know.

Elk Grove's planned civic center made national news this week. An article in Friday's New York Times outlined the city's decision to commission internationally-acclaimed architect Zaha Hadid to design the new complex, and the fact that some residents are less than enthusiastic about her firm's aesthetic.

All of which is nothing new to observers of local politics.
