Community drives home the point of giving

Month-long food and clothing drive drew widespread involvement.

If a picture tells a thousand words, then five photos from a month-long food and clothing drive that ended last week in Elk Grove should tell quite the holiday tale.

City Councilman Gary Davis was among those who helped organize the Nov. 14-Dec. 19 donation drive — along with his intern Teresa Rodriguez, and Elk Grove Community Connection members Linda Ford and Constance Conley — to assist those in need during the holiday season.

Conley told Elk Grove Patch that 26 local businesses participated in the drive that brought loads of food, clothing and toys to needy Elk Grove families, and ended with a continental breakfast Dec. 20 at the Elk Grove Food Bank to thank all those who participated. Davis hosted the breakfast, which was catered by Panera Bread.
